"I am very honoured to have been selected for the role" said Macey. "I am looking forward to a very busy season, mixing with fellow professionls and welcoming the many amateurs who support our events.
" This year I'm celebrating 25 years of becoming a fully qualified Professional and in May of next year i will have been working in association with burhill golf & leisure Ltd, the owners of Ramsdale Park.
My year as captain is really the icing on the cake. Looking back i have had the good fortune to surround myself with those who have had a great deal of belief in me.
For the future i have lots of ideas & plans. My motto is never stand still always keep learning and developing"
Colin Mayes, Managing Director of Burhill golf said " We are delighted that Robert is set to celebrate 25 years of sucess with his captaincy of the PGA Midland Region"

He first started playing as a junior member of Matlock in Derbyshire when he was ten. On leaving Tupton Hall school, he turned Professional when he was only 15, joining Mike McLean as an assistant at Chesterfield, becoming fully qualified at Lilleshall.
He moved south in 1983 to take up as the senior Pro at Hoebridge Golf Centre in Woking, Surrey. this pioneering complex owned by Burhill Golf & Leisure was among the very first 'pay & play' facilities in the country, soley aimed at bringing golf to the masses.
" Long gone are the days when golf addicts used to camp out overnight in their cars on a Sunday morning just to book a time for the following week" said Macey " At hoebridge which is surrounded by the likes of Sunningdale & Wentworth that was just what it was like.
I was very fortuanate to workj there for nine years, and met some fantastic people who, to this day, still come and see me for lessons"
